Social Media Intern
Hours per week: 15-20 / Location: Boston, MA
Flying Kites is seeking a creative, passionate, and driven individual with a strong understanding of social media platforms to plan, coordinate and execute our social media marketing strategy. Working under the guidance of the Director of Development, the Social Media Marketing Intern is responsible for the daily management of the organization's online presence and engagement through platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Vimeo. Administration includes content strategy, develop brand awareness, generate inbound traffic, and cultivate leads and sales. This position will require a minimum of 15 hours per week and college credits are available where appropriate. Individuals who exceed expectations after completing a minimum of six-months interning at Flying Kites will receive a round-trip flight to Kenya to see our work firsthand.
Manage Social Media marketing campaigns and day-to-day activities including:
Curate relevant content (images, video and written) to reach the organization's target audiences
Monitor, listen and respond to users in a "social" way while cultivating leads and sales
Conduct online advocacy and open stream for cross-promotions.
Oversee design (ie: Facebook Timeline cover, profile pic, thumbnails, ads, landing pages, Twitter profile, and blog).
Maintain on-going reports
Become an advocate for Flying Kites in Social Media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate
Monitor trends in Social Media tools, applications, channels, design and strategy
Identify opportunities in user-generated content surrounding the business
Demonstrates creativity and documented immersion in Social Media
College degree or in pursuit of college degree
Displays in-depth knowledge and understanding of Social Media Platforms, their respective participants (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Google+)
Detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills
